A question of belief

In a world which started off from a Big Bang (popular, scientific belief) and which subsequently was followed by the evolution of living species, we often wonder what life has in store for us. And of course, in an attempt to obtain this answer, we pray to God- the one and only, the superpower. But what makes us actually bow down in front of this superpower despite us having not come across any physical proof of its existence? Religion.

The religion we follow has certain ways of connecting to God. Each one of them unique. But do we not see that before we evolved to the human beings (homo sapiens) that we are today, we never had a religion "binding" us together. Yes, a religion has always been believed to be a binding force, that unites people and inspires integrity. A religion also is meant to refrain people from fighting within themselves. But the whole purpose is gone today. Surely we do have unity amongst people following the same religion, but the whole cause of uniting "people" has diminished. In fact, people belonging to different religions are ready to cut one another's throat, such is the hatred. All they want to prove is which has the greater GOD! Is that really the thing to be proven? Was it not meant to be one God, and unique ways to approach him? Wasn't that what religion was supposed to be?

So do we really need diverse religions or a single religion that unites the entire world? But an even more important question- why do we,this generation, not contest the entire "religion" phenomena? Answers to all these questions shall not be justified in words written, time to act. On a lighter note, go marry someone from another religion for a start.
